Three Mexican brothers were sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to conspiring to operate an interstate prostitution ring that relied on women who were smuggled in from Mexico and Central America and coerced into working for the trio.
Gregorio, Jose Luis and Norberto Hernandez-Castilla operated a score of bordellos in Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and Ohio and provided women to prostitution rings in New York, Kentucky, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Missouri and Florida, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Indianapolis said.
The brothers, who were living in the United States illegally, managed the criminal enterprise from Indianapolis and Chicago.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana authorities said they’ve busted a multi-state prostitution ring based in Indianapolis.
U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett said those behind the organization would smuggle women into the country from Mexico and Central America and force them into prostitution as a form of payment.
The women were then moved nearly every week, often not discovering their destination until they arrived, and had no means to make money except to continue in prostitution, authorities said.
“A judge has found that leaders of this organization used force or the threat of force to coerce several of these women into cooperating,” Hogsett’s news release read.
Hogsett is expected to release more information at a 1 p.m. news conference.
