High-profile conservative George Rekers recently resigned from the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality, a leading force in the movement to “cure” homosexuality, after he was caught renting a young male prostitute for a 10-day European vacation. Rekers said he was stepping down “to allow myself the time necessary to fight the false media reports that have been made against me.” NARTH attached a statement to to Rekers’ announcement saying his apparent hypocrisy does not reflect on their work.

Former New York governor — and rumored CNN host-to-be — Eliot Spitzer built his career as a “beacon of justice, the scrappy David taking down the Goliaths of Wall Street, the insurance industry, and yes, even prostitution,” says Newsweek. So when news broke that Spitzer, a Democrat, had been deceiving his wife and political allies by sneaking off to visit $1,000-an-hour prostitutes, he became a poster boy, says author Peter Elkind in Rough Justice: The Rise and Fall of Elliot Spitzer, for “the chasm between public image and private reality.”

MIAMI — Former NFL star Lawrence Taylor is being sued over a South Florida car crash last year in which he was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.
Police said Taylor struck a van on Nov. 8 on an expressway. He told police he thought he had hit a guardrail. No serious injuries were reported.
E-mails sent Thursday to Taylor’s attorney and agent were not immediately returned.
The lawsuit filed Wednesday in Miami-Dade Circuit Court says 51-year-old Manuel Villari Castillo suffered life altering injuries and loss of income because of the accident. The lawsuit seeks over $15,000 in damages.
Taylor is charged in New York with raping a 16-year-old runaway who police said was forced into prostitution by a man who had beaten her up.

Mrs. Jackson can be seen on this youtube video, interviewing Rep. Souder:
As far as the scandal itself goes, the details don’t seem to matter too much. It all seems to be your typical sex-scandal boilerplate. Since these sex scandals seem to pop up at least once a week, I offer the following “Easy Sex Scandal Press Release Checklist” to help people respond to the breaking news, quickly and easily:
It was

Duke lacrosse team? Let the facts play out. By writing this you
are adding to the guilty-first-now-prove-your-innocence
mentality that the press has been guilty of more and more in our
free society regardless of your opening statement. That being
said, L.T. is a dumb ass for putting himself in that position. If
he did solicit the services of a pimp and prostitute, I am sure
he didn’t ask for ID and I am sure most prostitutes are on the
young side. The guy could have gotten something much better just
using the internet … hello Craigslist? I absolutely
don’t agree with removing him from the HOF. You make it by your
on-field production, not how good of a guy you are. If he was
playing today he would have been suspended for his actions
during his playing career and he may not have made the Hall. It
is hard to compete while you are suspended – t …

It feels like the bad guys are winning. Every day there’s a new piece of salacious, perverted, inappropriate and criminal sports news to report.
Thursday, Lawrence Taylor, one of the greatest football players of all time, took the handcuffed perp walk into a criminal courtroom to face arraignment on charges that he had sex with a battered, 16-year-old runaway girl forced into prostitution.
It seems as if we can’t make it a week without some sort of gross sports scandal.
L.T. knocked a nameless Virginia lacrosse player accused of murdering his former girlfriend out of the headlines. The Virginia lacrosse player momentarily overshadowed Miami general manager Jeff Ireland’s “is-your-mama-a-prostitute?” gaffe. Ireland provided some cover for Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who recently avoided prosecution from sexual-assault charges.
And Big Ben was about the only thing stealing any spotlight from recovering sex addict Tiger Woods.
I’m good at writing about scandal. I know its temptations firsthand. I’m unafraid to address it in its rawest form.
But I’m growing tired. I feel like a participant in a scam.

24-Hour News 8 shot video of the fires just before 3 a.m. Indianapolis fire crews battled two fires within two blocks of one another. Authorities say young arsonists hit an abandoned apartment building on Beechwood and a vacant house on Good Avenue. Both are old structures in the heart of historic Irvington.
UPDATE: City code enforcement crews were on the scene Wednesday afternoon. They said they plan to tear down both structures damaged by the arsons because they are unsafe. The demolition could begin as early as Wednesday night. Residents said they were stunned, but not surprised.
“Next time, is it gonna be someone’s house rather than a vacant building?” wondered resident Katlyn Edwards.
Neighbors say the fire fallout is a symptom of a larger problem in Irvington. They call it a crime wave. They cite prostitution, drug houses and car vandalism. They say despite the arrest that was made Wednesday, they still want the city to do more.

The 24-year-old woman told police that a man she had met just before 5 p.m. on March 12 drove her to an alley behind 1500 Shepard St. and stabbed her multiple times.
The woman stumbled to a home along Shepard Street to ask for help, and collapsed on the porch, said Sgt. Paul Thompson.
She was still hospitalized on Tuesday with permanent injuries after losing a large amount blood during the attack.
Her attacker was described as a white man in his late 30s with short hair. He was driving a gray or silver van. Police said the victim’s clothing was never recovered and is believed to have been in the van.
Thompson said the victim has no history of prostitution, and that she said acts before the stabbing were consensual.

He does have one or two ideas of merit such as taking responsibility rather than suing others, and that politicians shouldn’t make life-long careers of public service, but most of his ideas are thoroughly Leftist rot:
Doing drugs, prostitution, killing yourself: have at it!Everyone should be able to get married: two men, two women, three women and a man, dogs and cats, owls and gazelles: have at itEveryone should be provided with “free” health care, even if the government has to rob you and your neighbor to supply itKeep Christian moral influence out of our government which was founded by Christians for a Christian nation based on Christian principles; instead, govern our nation based on transient, amoral principles of convenienceWe must attack all evil countries or none at all especially if they weren’t involved in 911Allow any and all types of bilge to be broadcast on television

… The Delta was the continuation of a feudal system that was a continuation of the aftermath of slavery,” says Lawrence Guyot, who registered black voters in the region during the civil rights era. “That made it a difficult place to convince local blacks to step up. They were a majority of the population but had no political or economic power.”
Guyot’s work was part of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, a group that turned students into community organizers. In the process, it became one of the most powerful forces of the civil rights movement, incubating national leaders including Georgia Rep. John Lewis and NAACP Chairman Julian Bond. As the group marks its 50th anniversary this weekend, Guyot and other veterans of SNCC (known as “snick”) reflect on their efforts to revamp the politics of the Delta, the heart of the Deep South.
“We organized people from the prostitutes to the preachers,” Guyot says. “We turned this fight into their fight.”
