GREENWOOD, Ind. — Greenwood police made two arrests Wednesday as part of a continuing crackdown on the sex trade.
Dianna Nicley, 37, and Nicole Fortner, 30, were arrested after an undercover detective met with them at the InTown Suites in the 800 block of East Main Street, police said.
“Fortner and Nicley agreed to perform sexual acts upon the detective for $200 cash,” said Greenwood police Assistant Chief Matt Fillenwarth. “The detective paid the $200, and both women removed their clothing so they could have sex with the detective.”
Police said both women were arrested on prostitution charges and that Fortner was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. She was also wanted on a warrant from Marion County.

Eleven congregations of Catholic nuns have partnered with Indianapolis area hotels to educate workers about prostitution and sex trafficking, which are often byproducts of large sporting events, according to the Catholic News Service.
As part of the effort, the women worked with the Indianapolis Department of Health and Human Services to print brochures containing facts about human trafficking, as well as hotlines and shelters workers can contact to report suspicious activity.
“The hotels are going to be busy and we want them to be able to do what they have to do,” Sister Ann Oestreich told the Catholic News Service. “The Super Bowl is a celebration, but we don’t want exploitation to be part of it.”
An estimated 10,000 prostitutes flocked to Miami for the 2010 Super Bowl, according to Cincinnati’s WLWT. In 2011, Dallas police made 133 prostitution arrests.

Senate backs tougher sex-trafficking law January 10, 2012 7:32PM
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Senate has approved a bill to toughen penalties for sex trafficking, and supporters hope it will become law before football fans converge on Indianapolis for the Super Bowl in less than a month.
The Senate voted 48-0 in favor of the bill on Tuesday, sending it to the House for consideration.
Prosecutors and other supporters say the bill would make it easier to prosecute sex trafficking cases involving victims younger than 16 and broaden the law for cases with older victims.
The bill makes recruiting, transporting or harboring anyone younger than 16 for prostitution or other sexual conduct a felony punishable by 20 years to 50 years in prison. It also would bar defendants from arguing a child consented to the sexual activity.

INDIANAPOLIS | The Indiana Senate on Tuesday approved a plan to toughen the state’s human trafficking laws ahead of next month’s Super Bowl in Indianapolis.
Senate Bill 4 clarifies state law to ban the use of force or fraud to compel participation in sexual conduct and prohibits a parent or guardian from selling or transferring custody of their child for prostitution.
The Republican-controlled Senate voted 48-0 to send the legislation to the Republican-controlled House.
Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels said in his State of the State address Tuesday night he is eager to sign the measure into law.

The governor and state legislative leaders wanted to strengthen sex-trafficking laws before the Super Bowl to combat an expected influx of prostitutes. They cite estimates that the 2010 Super Bowl drew 10,000 prostitutes to Miami, and point out there were 133 arrests for prostitution in Dallas at the 2011 Super bowl.
There is so much red meat for cynics in all of this. Don’t lawmakers care about our citizens being victimized by prostitutes (or our women being exploited as prostitutes)? Don’t they worry about the effects of secondhand smoke on our lungs? Don’t they care about Hoosiers who are hassled by aggressive panhandling? But the truth about all these efforts is that they can be applauded if they are well-thought-out attempts to solve long-term problems, not just attempts to pretty up the place for place for visitors. Mighty big if.

As he walked out of the courtroom, Forrest stayed silent, crossing his arms and facing the wall as he got on a nearby elevator.
With his attorney out of town, he refused to answer any questions from the media about allegations that he was caught on surveillance video inside the Sunset Strip Gentlemen’s Club while on duty. IMPD says Forrest is seen on the video getting out of his squad car in uniform and walking into the club. Court documents allege Forrest paid for private dances at the club, then “unzipped his pants and exposed himself to the stripper.” Metro Police investigators say the woman then continued to dance while Forrest “touched himself.”
Forrest faces a Class A misdemeanor charge of patronizing a prostitute. Because he was on duty at the time, he also faces a Class D felony charge of official misconduct.
