Indianapolis Adult Entertainment: Focus on the Family

Sex trafficking is not just a problem in Asia. It’s estimated that 250,000 children are sexually exploited in the United States annually and 100,000 teens, between the ages of 9 and 19, are trafficked. In 2011, a Kalamazoo man faced sex trafficking charges involving local teenagers that he sold to men at a bachelor party which was actually a sting operation. Also in 2011, federal agents busted an international prostitution ring that forced women to work in brothels in Grand Rapids, Chicago, Indianapolis and Cincinnati. In 2009, Fox News reported that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children ranked Michigan as 13th in the country for number of sex traffic victims.

A few weeks ago I shared some insights with you regarding a mission trip one of our staff members made to Thailand. As a follow up, I wanted to share with you some of the troubling statistics I learned about trafficking. As parents, you need to pay attention because some of the reasons behind why young gi …

Ten years ago: U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr., D-Ohio, was convicted of taking bribes and kickbacks from businessmen and his own staff. (Traficant was later expelled from Congress and sentenced to eight years in prison; he was released in September 2009.) Venezuelan police battled protesters demanding President Hugo Chavez’s ouster.
Five years ago: North Carolina’s top prosecutor dropped all charges against three former Duke University lacrosse players accused of sexually assaulting a stripper at a party, saying the athletes were innocent victims of a “tragic rush to accuse.” MSNBC announced it was dropping its simulcast of the “Imus in the Morning” radio program, responding to growing outrage over host Don Imus’ on-air reference to the Rutgers women’s basketball team as “nappy-headed hos.” (CBS Radio followed suit the next day.) Death claimed author Kurt Vonnegut in New York at age 84 and actor Roscoe Lee Browne in Los Angeles at age 81.

Joey is an alcoholic and is barely sober. He is single, shy with women, and lonely. Denny is married with two kids. He is hot tempered, a racist, he takes bribes and he cheats on his wife with a prostitute. Though miles apart in personality and temperament, they both bear a similarity in terms of the severity of their emotional problems.
Throughout the drama, Denny and Joey offer differing versions of their shared experiences, through alternating separate monologues and occasional dialogue between themselves. It’s a format playwright Huff calls a “duologue,” and a device that requires the audience members to determine what really happened and search for the truth as they listen to two different narratives.
In riveting detail, the beat cops describe both the circumstances and their individual actions in a situation that occurs after a pimp has shot bullets through Denny’s front window, causing a critical injury to one of his sons. Denny proceeds to ignore police protocol as he goes after the perpetrator and involves Joey in a series of unauthorized and illegal activities.
